About

Datti Kaur, a diasporic Indian artist from Singapore, holds a Bachelor’s in Fine Arts and a Bachelor’s in High School IB Art Education from the University of British Columbia. She earned her Master’s in Indian miniature painting from the King’s Foundation School of Traditional Arts. Heavily inspired by Indian classical music and poetry, Datti’s artworks explore her cultural roots and personal history through Nature. Her pieces weave diverse elements of creation, guiding viewers on paths of discovery and wonder that resonates deeply with the soul. By integrating layers of imagery and symbolism, Datti constructs dynamic worlds that foster a sacred dialogue between humanity, nature, and the Divine. Her art invites immersion in rich environments, allowing viewers to find their own interpretation of the omnipresent energy within themselves and the natural world. Through this interplay of art and spirituality, Datti offers an experience that connects viewers to deeper rhythms of existence.

Fine Art Painting Drawing

In my second-year MA project at The School of Traditional Arts, I created two expansive paintings inspired by the Barhamaha poetry, which explores the twelve seasons in Indian literature. This poetry portrays the Divine as an omnipresent force intertwined with nature and human existence. My paintings aim to reflect this Divine through diverse landscapes, flora, fauna, and seasonal elements, creating a visual representation of nature's primal beauty. By incorporating the rhythmic and emotive qualities of Barhamaha poetry and Indian classical music, I strive to create a sacred space where viewers can find solace and introspection. My goal is to evoke the timeless beauty and universal themes of love, longing, and renewal through dynamic and immersive imagery.
