About
Yutong Lu is an illustrator from China, currently based in London. She earned her BA from Edinburgh College of Art and is now completing her MA at the Royal College of Art. Her work spans editorial illustration, animation, comics, and picture books, often weaving visual storytelling with subtle observations of everyday life and emotion.
Eternal Child is a poetic visual archive that explores emotional self-interruption—when parts of the self are left unfinished during growing up. Through four fictional characters, each representing a different emotional pattern, the project visualises internal struggles young adults face under societal expectations. Set on a symbolic island, each character’s story unfolds through illustrated booklets, reflective questions, and a shared emotional map. Using mixed media, laser-cut textures, and ring-bound formats, the work invites readers to pause, reflect, and reconnect with the parts of themselves they once suppressed—proposing a gentler, more emotionally whole model of growth.
