About
Millie Affleck recently graduated from Kingston University where she studied Fashion Design BA Hons. Specialising in women's, menswear and knitwear she took inspiration from brutalist architecture and experimented with various techniques through CLO3D.
My graduate collection ‘Fragile Geometry’ is an exploration of the multi-faceted complexities within brutalist architecture. I chose to explore these contradictions through structured woven details and soft knit techniques that are designed to be worn by different bodies. Utilising dead-stock fabrics and locally sourced yarns has been a key component, aided by the exploration of CLO3D design to ensure minimal waste and efficiency throughout the design process. My work has also been influenced by my own personal research into slowing down the rates of production and consumption whilst still maintaining a functioning society. This collection is an homage to the resilient yet fragile nature of our current climate and a call to action for a more sustainable and conscious approach to fashion design.
