Hi, I’m Simeon.I’m a design engineer with a background in both industrial design and software development. My work lives at the intersection of creativity and technology, where I combine hands-on prototyping with code to explore how products can feel both intuitive and meaningful.In recent projects I have designed physical interfaces for elderly-friendly smart homes, built interactive prototypes with Arduino and Raspberry Pi, and developed full stack web applications that push my technical and creative boundaries. Whether it is shaping a product in CAD, crafting an interface in React, or wiring up a working prototype, I enjoy moving fluidly between the workshop and the code editor.At the core of my practice is curiosity. I am constantly learning, testing, and refining to create forward thinking solutions that improve everyday life.
LEO is a smart home system I designed for elderly users, focused on making technology more approachable and empowering for people as they age. The project began with a simple question: how might we design intuitive and accessible solutions that help aging adults feel more connected and self-sufficient in a rapidly evolving technological landscape? I approached this challenge as both an industrial designer and UX developer. On the physical side, I created modules with large tactile buttons, wood and metal finishes, and design cues inspired by vintage radios. On the digital side, I built an interactive dashboard prototype that connected with the hardware through Arduino and ProtoPie and creates a visual signifier of the various touch points for the smart hoem system. LEO became more than just a prototype. It was an exploration of how thoughtful design and technology can come together to support aging in place, blending physical comfort with digital accessibility. The project received recognition for its creativity and innovation, but most importantly it reinforced my belief in designing products that improve everyday life in meaningful ways.
