I am a recent graduate from Manchester Metropolitan University School Of Art.
Froebel, an 18th century educator, pioneered the theory that ‘play is the highest expression of human development in childhood’. In South Asian households, speaking in the mother tongue is a valued part of cultural identity, and childhood play in the mother tongue is encouraged. LingoBlox is designed to help children learn their mother tongue through play. Inspired by Froebel’s iconic toy blocks, Lingoblox is a smart toy, enabling the pre-recording of mother tongue words for the child to listen to and learn whilst playing.
