About

Apparel design concentration

My inspiration for these looks stemmed from this year's runway theme at Buffalo State University: True Delusion. With the theme's emphasis on mental health, I aimed to create three looks symbolizing the battle against the world. By focusing on the proportions, I widened the leg openings on each pair of pants to give the illusion of a slimmer waist and broader shoulders, making the wearer appear wider and more assertive. I chose earthy denim and canvas for their tough qualities, with warm tones to evoke aggression. Additionally, I drew inspiration from the theme of the eclipse, blending elements of space and classic sci-fi films into my designs. To achieve this, I incorporated complex patterns for the jackets, featuring extensive layering, unconventional shapes, and zippers. The use of dark colors further accentuated the sci-fi aesthetic. Research My design process began with browsing trend forecasting websites such as CottonWorks and WGSN. From these sources, I identified fabric trends for FW24 and SS25, including themes like creative destruction, layering, dichotomy, and weathered and worn aesthetics. According to WGSN's 2024 forecast, earthen shades and desert-inspired tones are regarded as gender-inclusive colors. Design Statement Introducing the True Delusion Collection, a captivating exploration of modern identity and self-expression through looks tailored for both men and women.
