My name is Afrah Mubeen, I'm a self-taught illustrator and animator and I began my journey with a passion for traditional art, focusing on portrait drawing. My work now dives into the exciting mix of humanity and technology, bringing fresh and unique insights into our modern lives. Through my work, I aim to capture the nuances of the fast-paced, digital age we live in, where every creative piece tells its own story.
Project Summary:
In a world increasingly dominated by digital devices, "Virtual Vinyasa," offers a humorous and insightful exploration of our relationship with technology. Through vibrant visuals and a witty narrative, this project delves into the pervasive influence of digital devices in shaping our daily habits and attention spans.
Set in a futuristic yoga studio, this piece juxtaposes tranquility with the frenetic energy of digital consumption. The guided yoga session reimages traditional yoga poses, using a playful voiceover to lead participants through poses that mimic common digital gestures such as scrolling and taking selfies.
Virtual Vinyasa aims to create a space for laughter, reflection, and a deeper engagement with the intersection of mindfulness and digital culture, highlighting the balance we strive to achieve between our physical and virtual worlds.
"Virtual Vinyasa" explores the subject of digital dependency by playfully examining the monetization of users' time and attention in our tech-driven world. Set against the backdrop of current chaotic digital consumption, this project reimagines yoga, blending this serene practice with the gestures of modern device use, like scrolling and taking selfies. The animation features a futuristic aesthetic, with sleek furnishings and glowing accents blending together to create an energetic atmosphere. Through this guided session, viewers are invited to laugh, reflect, and question the impact of their digital habits, ultimately encouraging a more mindful approach to technology and digital engagement.
