Hi! I'm Alice, a recent MA graduate from the Swedish School of Textiles. I'm deeply interested in pattern-making and construction techniques that help reduce waste and generate new and interesting silhouettes.
I have been working the past few years almost exclusively with post-consumer materials and studying their potential to be re-worked into new garments. My aesthetic is varied, however, I do tend to always include some sportswear elements.
Morphing entries was created as my degree work for my MA at the Swedish School of Textiles. This collection disrupts garments expressions by deconstructing their form and function, and therefore questioning how we dress. Using post-consumer waste, I challenge established dress conventions by layering and manipulating each garment. My incessant curiosity led me to explore thoroughly new interactions between the body and clothing. Therefore, I propose innovative ways of displaying, framing, and dissecting the body through a blend of digital and physical, unconventional pattern-making methods. That places post-consumer waste at the center stage, guiding the exploration of form. The result was a collection of 15 garments that can be reworked into multiple looks and have the potential to frame and alter how the body is perceived. With each combination of pieces, I propose new ways of entering and experiencing common garment archetypes.
