stylist and recently graduated as a graphic designer at ArtEZ University of the Arts, Zwolle.
As a designer, I see myself as someone who not afraid of a challenge, is inquisitive and experiments with different subjects as well as techniques. My interests are typography, print, publication, identity, styling, research design and spatial design. I try to work both digitally and artisanal and try to connect aesthetics to the solution. During my study at ArtEZ, the overall design ideology was Human Matters. From here on I have positioned myself as a designer that focusses on what motivates, hinder, or limits us humans in our life. I believe it is important to bring these issues to light and to offer creative solutions.
Hearing continuous sounds, such as a buzz, hum or beep. About two million Dutch citizens hear these sounds day in, day out. Better known as tinnitus. The installation 'Onafgebroken' (which means continuous or unbroken) focuses on tinnitus and its impact on the daily life. As a visitor of Onafgebroken you experience tinnitus through spatial design, storytelling, photography, typography, sound and video. After the experience you can ask yourself: Can I live with this assassin? The goal is to internally motivate the visitor to be more aware of their lifestyle, because you can get tinnitus in many different ways. In the hope that this project will lead to a reduction in the increase of tinnitus patients in the Netherlands. Prior to the installation Onafgebroken, I've made a thesis about tinnitus in The Netherlands and the lack of a designsolution to this devastating health problem.
