About
Jasmine is a product and furniture designer from London; her practice explores the intersection of traditional craft and contemporary design, with a focus on natural materials and traditional techniques. She has just recently graduated from the Royal College of Art, completing her MA in Design Products. Previously, she attended Northumbria University where she studied 3D Design: Product and Furniture Design and finished with a First Class Honours degree.
The Silva Collection is a series of woven outdoor furniture, drawing inspiration from untreated and minimally processed raw furniture crafted with coppiced hazel and natural hardwood. The weaving is made from split hazel weavers, traditionally used in the endangered craft of hazel basket making. The technique has been reimagined for a new purpose, transforming it into seating for contemporary furniture, which has never been done before. The Silva Collection combines traditional garden furniture aesthetics with the eco conscious ethos of greenwood working to create a stool, a bench and a lounge chair.
