Interdisciplinary artist, educator, writer, lover of all things tactile and creative and nature-oriented. Nerds out about moss, sea creatures, and insects. Makes work intertwining memory/trauma, grief, cyclical processes, mimicry. My practice is rooted in methodical, cathartic process, incorporating an ebb and flow of physical/metaphorical tension. The textures in my work come from an obsession with line, color, and form-unfurling and undulating. Currently weaving, drawing, spinning, and painting/printmaking.
An exploration into cloaking, mimicry, textile work as the body-evoking images of moths, sea creatures, and birds in tandem with each other. Creating soft paintings and venturing into installations with a variety of textile techniques, including rug tufting, needle/wet felting, and embroidery. The culmination of my two years of research and intensive studio practice at the University of Washington, School of Art, Art History, and Design in the Painting + Drawing program.
