I hold a Bachelor's degree in Fashion from Aalto University and am expected to complete my Master's degree later this year. Throughout my studies, I have spent years developing my design methodology. My journey began with a strong emphasis on materials and visual research, which laid the foundation for my creative process. Over time, my focus has evolved towards pattern cutting, which now forms the core of my design approach. My work has been featured in international competitions and I have had the opportunity to showcase my collections at Aalto University's "Näytös" show on three occasions. These experiences have played a significant role in refining my artistic expression and technical skills. Contact: sinipilvi@icloud.com
Curved Methodology represents my journey in developing a personalised pattern-cutting method. I used Clo3D, a digital garment design software to enhance the practice of creative pattern cutting. The digital software enabled me to comprehend and manage more complex patterns than I could with hands-on techniques. Cutting in a curvy manner makes the process intuitive and fluid. By establishing personal methods, I created a structured yet flexible process that focused on the 'how' of creating patterns rather than the 'what' of designing specific garments. The fashion collection is an artistic response to the concepts explored in my thesis, Digital Pattern Cutting as a Fashion Design Tool.
