I am a Design for Industry graduate who is passionate about material innovation and sportswear design
Having grown up in the Lake District my work is orientated around the protection of the environment and user.
I hope to showcase this in my work.
I present Myco: a sustainable cycle helmet that revolutionises material innovation, safety and fashion. It’s crafted from recyclable materials and a biodegradable mycelium inner shell, compostable after three years, releasing zero toxins. This material replaces the use of expanding polystyrene foam, a non-biodegradable material that takes over 500 years to decompose with the production of which is being banned in over 70 cities. Myco’s design uses a unique mechanism that absorbs rotational impact and ensures easy part replacement for safety, customisation and allowing seamless disassembly at the end of its life. Myco offers a cheaper, safer, and eco-conscious helmet alternative.
