Image of Audio Equipment "Sound Wave"

Specialisms:

Industrial Design

This project challenges the conventional aesthetics of audio equipment by reimagining the shape of the gramophone cartridge, amplifier and power supply of the Lithuanian high-quality turntable manufacturer Reed. Inspired by the dynamic and expressive nature of sound waves, the Sound Wave design concept manifests itself as a segmented, wave-like structure for all three components. This unique approach not only achieves a visually striking and harmonious design, but also conveys the product's core function of creating and amplifying sound. Each component is characterised by its unique shapes, which seamlessly merge into a sculptural whole. The potentiometers of the amplifier and power supply unit have custom engravings on the front of the front facade that allow their positioning to be identified, creating a unique design that is accessible to all people, including the blind. The amplifier and power supply use a "U-shaped" assembly principle, optimising the internal layout and accessibility of the internal components. "Sound Wave is an example of how design can transform functional products into art objects, creating a deeper connection between the user and the experience. By redefining the visual language of audio equipment, this project offers a new approach to how technology and aesthetics can coexist harmoniously.
